Budapest History Museum

Description

The Budapest History Museum (in Hungarian: Budapesti Történeti Múzeum (BTM)) is the museum of the capital city. It collects, preserves, processes, and exhibits archaeological, historical, and artistic relics of Budapest from prehistoric times to the present day. In addition to showcasing past values and memories, it also emphasizes the representation of contemporary fine arts, photography, and design in its exhibitions. The BTM is the largest museum complex in the country, consisting of four institutions: the Aquincum Museum, the Kiscell Museum, the Castle Museum, and the Budapest Gallery. Alongside these four institutions, there are also smaller but important units such as the Varga Imre Collection, as well as several Roman and later historical sites throughout Budapest (e.g., Baths Museum, Hercules Villa, Medieval Jewish Prayer House, etc.). My concept was presented through a publicly announced competition.

My theory is that the logos, symbols, and icons of the museum complex can be used together and individually after the corporate design is established. The logos were created using both serif and sans-serif typefaces, inspired by the architectural features of the buildings. The visual identity also incorporates elements of historical architecture. During the design process, I decided to use a monochromatic color scheme, which creates a truly elegant style, allowing the exhibited historical objects to remain prominent. The supplementary icons are stylized representations of the main characteristics of each museum.

In addition to the logos, I also created envelope, business card, letterhead, email signature, and presentation template.
